Seasons
Her first love is like spring
No more than shy smiles and stolen glances
Until he took her hand
And led her down a golden road
Where Nature’s melody could be heard
Clearer than the purest crystal
He took her to a small meadow
And they danced in the dying embers of the day
And once the moon was at its peak
He told her he loved her
The chirping crickets would blast a fanfare
As they shared Love’s tender embrace
Soon it would be summer
And their love would blaze like a fiery inferno
All-consuming but beautiful
A fiery hurricane of passion
And every night they would lay together
Whispering intimacies and secrets
And she would give everything she had to him
The intense heat of their love forging the iron of their bonds
And then the trees’ leaves would turn gold
They will return to the meadow where they fell in love
Building a house and a family
Harvesting the fruits of their hearts
Although they would see each other less
They were still as much in love
As they were in the heat of summer
Learning patience and inspiring each other
To root themselves in their family
Creating an infallible home
Full of love and joy
Open for all who need it
Now the golden leaves have fallen
And the meadow is no longer green
But dull gray
As the bitter cold bites, chilling all who are in it
The hearth of their home is blazing
And they share stories by the fireside
Celebrating life although it is dormant
And every day he will
Brush her hair out of her eyes
And tell her he loves her
Though his fingers shake
And she can barely see him
And every day he will
Until he is gone
Leaving her alone
Waiting for her to follow him back
Into the meadow
To dance in the dying embers of the day
Just like they always did
