O! Our Creator We're Journalists Keep Us Safe From Hurt
Akpan Ita Williams 1974 (Akwa Ibom State)
O! Our creator, we're journalists, keep us safe from hurt,
In this world of chaos, where truth can be perverted.
Grant us the strength to seek the stories untold,
To shine a light on injustice, to be brave and bold.
In the pursuit of knowledge, we face many trials,
Exposed to dangers, threats, and deceitful denials.
But with your guidance, we'll navigate the storm,
With integrity and courage, our purpose will transform.
Protect us from the darkness that seeks to suppress,
The voices of the voiceless, the truth they possess.
Shield us from the arrows of corruption and lies,
Empower us to uncover, to expose, to analyze.
Grant us the wisdom to discern fact from fiction,
To challenge the powerful, without contradiction.
May our words be a beacon, a source of insight,
To inspire change, to ignite the fight.
But amidst the chaos, let us not lose our way,
Remind us of our duty, to inform and convey.
Guide us to the stories that need to be told,
To give voice to the silenced, to be brave and bold.
O! Our creator, we're journalists, keep us safe from hurt,
In this world of chaos, where truth can be perverted.
Grant us the courage to stand tall and strong,
To uphold the values of journalism, where we belong.
