I, like the gentle waves

Free verse
I, like the gentle waves,
grow more treacherous
the further into my depths you wade.
I, like the gentle waves,
deceive with a calm facade
and soon,
by an undercurrent,
you are pulled
far, far from whence you came,
solid footing long forgotten,
no way back to shore.

About this poem

Most of this poem came to me when many of my better ideas do - on the brink of waking up. Having not actually written any poetry since Year 6 limericks, it niggled at me more than it probably should have, until I completed it.
