Finding Comfort

Things with you are so easy, they just flow,
like this is the way it's supposed to go.
It's like we did all the hard work when we were kids,
Now all we gotta do is sit back and live.
There's no getting to know who each other is,
We already know and accept all of it.
It's like rediscovering a movie you've seen a thousand times,
Or having your favorite comfort food and savoring every bite.
Putting on an old sweater and feeling it warm you up,
A hug from your first love.
It's like grabbing an old book off of your shelf,
Been sitting there so long, you forgot how it felt -
To open the cover and run your fingers through the pages,
While you wonder why you haven't done this in ages.
You try to figure out why you ever reshelved this one,
When reading it is so damn fun.
I wonder why it took me so long,
to go back to these things that inspire me to song.
When all along, they've always been a few of my favorite things,
And the best part is, I still don't know the ending...
