The Rainy Days

Everyone’s got their own definition of love.
You may have heard one person or the other describe their someone as sunshine on a rainy day.
But I always loved the rain..

When the dark clouds take over, and the crisp rays fade away,
When things are not so clear,
I think that’s where true love stays.

When the sky’s not the perfect hues of orange and red at sunrise,
But the gloomy shadow that falls onto the city,
When we are supposed to be in broad daylight.

It’s easy to love, when everything is beautiful, green and blue.
But is it really love,
If you are not there for all the other grays too.

When you take a step outside and indulge into the tears of the world,
You will see the beauty in things that may not have seemed so beautiful.

Because have you ever noticed how things look after a storm
All washed out and true.
The greenery afresh and the pavements look like they are made new.

We all have our own definition of love,
But to me, it means to make it past the rainy days with you..

About this poem

I wrote this poem because everyone shows you the sunshine and the rainbows in their relationships, but the strong and healthy ones aren't always perfect. To me, my perfect definition of love is to get through the tough times together.
