My Brother, with Schizophrenia

Starr Wyant 1982 (Las Cegas)

July 23

My brother with schizophrenia, You face a battle every day, Fighting demons and illusions that try to take your mind away.
I see your struggles and your triumphs, The moments when you shine so bright, The times when you retreat in silence and everything feels out of sight.
But through it all, you keep on moving, Navigating the twists and turns, And though the journey may be rocky, Your spirit continues to burn.
For you are more than just a diagnosis, More than just a label or a name, You are a person with so much value and dignity that cannot be tamed.
You teach us all the power of courage, Of perseverance in the face of pain, Of stepping forward with compassion even when the world looks grim and plain.
So as you walk your path each day, Know that you are not alone, For love and support surround you and will help you find your way home.
And know that you are more than your illness, More than a victim in a fight, You are a brother, friend, and inspiration, A shining example of hope and light.
