Information

Writing is now done
By a tap on a screen
Or speaking to a phone
Or pressing on a word which completes .

No pen or paper, both long dead
Thought now expressed
By touch and sound
By press or speech.

Touch and press.

No flow of ink or pencil.

No words scrawled with despair
No letters written with regret.
Fear not shown by a shaking hand.
No blood smeared on paper
As a goodbye.

On a screen is the one I love
Holding hands separated by glass
Speech cutting out
Movement freezing.
Like love itself reflected .

No letters exchanged by lovers to be kept .

A screen can clear the heat
Of what was written
By switching off.
