"New" beginnings
the bathroom
it seems too
dry.
it no longer lingers
with that stuffy smell
of wet.
of old bath water pleading to be drained.
my towel
looks unused
new?
that dry towel
stares into my soul -
makes me confess all my sins.
no, i haven't taken a bath in a few months.
no, i haven't washed my hair in quite some time.
my knees are covered in the dirt and muck of the world
yet to be washed off
i turn my head to the left -
my toothbrush glares
the bristles standing, angrily upright
i suddenly feel my hand cover my mouth,
to hide my shame
from the world.
no, i haven’t brushed my teeth in a while.
