Life's Unanswered Questions

Phylicia Ebanks 1981 (St. Elizabeth)

Life's Unanswered Questions
-Phylicia Ebanks

I reasoned with life for few seconds,
It didn't answer me.
I talked with life for some minutes,
It did not respond.

I questioned life for hours and it remained muted.
Life can be a mystery  and this cannot be disputed.
It's unpredictable and this cannot be refuted.

Life! Life!
You are a gift .
Please do not drift.
You tend to switch .
I wish you could hitch .

You refuse to answer our questions
You frequently lead to depression.
There is not much suppression when you act without compassion.

Life! Life!
Answer my questions.
Are you here to cause dissatisfaction?
Why are you behaving like a suction?
Life, Life.
I wish you could answer my questions
Life's Unanswered Questions
Life! Life….

I will not give up even though you refuse to answer my questions.
My optimism will surpass your poor rhythm.

I will conquer without an answer.
Life's unanswered questions.

This poem says that life is a gift but also complaints that the questions are not answered. This is a contradiction of thought and makes the sense deviate from what it tries to say that is mainly that life has no explanation for those who ask, though the poem could have done it a a better and more poetic language.
