DREAMS OF REALITY INSIDE A REALITY OF A DREAM

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

A dream within reality or reality within a dream? I do not know the answer, so I peel my skin back and scream. I deal another hand and put on my best poker face, telling myself life is a journey, not a race.

I have been doing this dance alone for so damn long, but at last, I found myself and my one true love to sing to me night and day, her sweetness in a song.

I keep asking myself who takes my hand at night to walk through the realities of the paths I call my dreamland. Who holds my breath when I have conversations with the dead bringing back the words they have said?

Dreams in reality and reality in dreams falling asleep in darkness, only awoken by the light. I might be haunted by the landscapes and the voices I might be poisoned by the fruit and water that I eat and drink along the way, but who is to say that it is not worth the fight to enjoy the desire that lingers inside other world's fires?
