My Family

Father, Papa, Vader, 아빠
These all mean the same,
Yet I can't ever imagine one being your name
I needed you here for me
But I realized that you’ll never be
A cold man with no heart,
Mother knew this from the start

Mother, Maman, Mutter, 엄마
I call out to you in the bright lights
Wasting our money
Causing a blight
I missed you and when I needed you most
All I'd simply see was a ghost
Never there, never near
You are the reason for my fear

Brother, Frere, Bruder, 형제
Greedy, cruel, and full of spite
You tear me down with all your might
Make me cry and make me sob
You can’t even do your job
To make me laugh and feel the love
Insults and hate you’d hit and shove

Sister, Sœur, Schwester, 자매
Fuss and scream and cry and shout
You argue and hit and spread doubt
Yelling and stealing, causing a scene
Just goes to show all you can be is mean
Though it may not be ill intent
Every word is our torment
I love you very much it’s true
But I'm so sick and tired of you

Grandmother, Grand-mère, Oma, 할머니
Hateful, Slur slinging, and ugly inside
These reasons to hate you are easily supplied
Hurting your son and therefore me
Causing a loop of which we won't ever be free
A disgusting hateful woman with no one to love or hold
Someone that will go unmissed when their body goes cold
You deserve all the insults and things you’ve been called
Simply, you and who you are leaves me appalled
I hate you most of all.

Well then last and certainly least, there's me, myself, and I
Abrianna, Bri, Jaworski, Banani
Lazy, a leech, picky, and certainly clingy
I have little self-worth
Though I seem to bring joy and mirth
I double down on things, even the tiny ones
Even with my brain, I am the one it shuns
No matter the amount of praise I receive
Or the goals I managed to achieve
None of it matters, no, not to me.
Less is all I’ll ever be

About this poem

It's about my family and how they've caused me trauma in their own ways
