Those imperfections

Those Imperfections ©

Staring at my cellulite
While standing on my flat duck feet
My brain begins to pause and reflect
Why such superficial things are so hard to reject
What’s truly important in life we all know
Are internal beauty and a spiritual glow
But external “beauty” plagues our gullible minds
While perceptions of perfection play games we find
So genetics that gave you an enormity of nose
Still blows your mind and I do suppose
That external factors do come into play
While reflections in the mirror simply refuse to go away
So I offer to you and I share with myself
These simple thoughts to store away on your shelf
That nose, those ears that cellulite
You’ll only be remembered for kindness so sweet
You see your legacy will never ever be
The external fleeting beauty for all to see
And truth be told as we age and grow old
External perfection withers and will surely implode
But acts of kindness given freely keep you beautiful in the mind
Of all still here on Earth, loved ones you’ve left behind
Not saying at all to neglect your health
Nor that vessel you call your body
Exercise and groom with delight..I know you don’t want to look shoddy!
But in the end when eternal sleep lulls you forever into reverie
If kindness shared is left behind………..truly beautiful you’ll always be.
