A Gift Misunderstood

My lover is a miracle,
A wondrous sight to see,
Yet she looks upon herself in the mirror
And sees only misery reflecting back.

She thinks she is a curse,
A burden on this world,
But I see her as a blessing,
A precious, priceless soul.

Her heart is full of kindness,
And her soul is pure and true,
But she looks into the mirror,
And sees only what is blue.

I wish I could show her,
What I see when I look at her,
My light , my love, my one true love,
A diamond to behold and cherish forever more.

She believes she's a curse,
But we know she's a gift,
So let her know she's loved,
And let her know she's blessed.

About this poem

This poem was written because my partner thought of herself as a curse on this world, while in my eyes she is a gift from the heavens.
