In Praise of Unexpected Treats
In mirthful joy and youthful glee,
A boy did eat his crackers free,
Not knowing that the treats he found,
Were meant for beasts and not for hound.
Though strange it seemed, he didn’t care,
For hunger's pangs he couldn’t bear,
And so he ate them day by day,
Not knowing they were not his tray.
But danger lurked in each small bite,
For pet food is not made for sight,
Of human eyes or human tongue,
And can cause illness if done wrong.
Oh but the boy knew naught of this,
And as he munched he felt pure bliss,
For animal crackers were his friend,
A joy that never had an end.
So let us learn from this small tale,
And heed the warnings we prevail,
For though a snack may be quite sweet,
It's best we stick to human treats.
