God's great gift

Valiantstar 1961 (Sydney)

God's gift to me would have to be my shed
I can't forget my family
But now that that's said
The shed could be my soul mate
She is so serine
She has no refinement
But fills my need
Now heading for retirement
We have put away the charade
We have been there for each other
Through drought and flooding rains
We buried my Mother
She has seen my joy and my pain
But we still have each other
Composed and restrained
We have stored many memories
In trunks and boxes
Of bygone loved ones
With fading memories
Mingled in with machinery and wood
Brass objects, nic-nacks, anything I thought looked good
Steel hardware, tools of my trade
Chainsaws, augers, chisels, all with sharp blades
We can get visits from reptiles and such
But we pay them no mind
They don't want to much
See, I am the king
The king of this castle
I do as I wish
No need for the asking
You see it's a death trap
For all but the meek
The illusion of grandeur
Has long since deceased.
