In the dark

In the dark of night,
With no sign of light,
I feel my heart pounding,
And my nerves confounding.

The shadows obscure,
And my fears endure,
As the world turns cold,
And the stories are told.

Of the creatures that lurk,
In the places they work,
And the evil that creeps,
When the world is asleep.

But I'll stand here strong,
Though I know it's wrong,
To believe in the tales,
That give rise to these gales.

For the darkness will fade,
When the morning is made,
And the light will reveal,
That it was all just unreal.
