Moonbeams
I love the way the moonbeams dance
upon the sullen water-
just like the curvature of your face
and the dolphin’s synchronized grace.
Tiny myriads of shimmering light
cascading and then fading.
They bounce from point of light
to point of light.
joining the night in it’s starlit flight.
Ideas flowing, deep in thought.
Answers to questions sought.
Wisdom from an age of old
you drink from the cup of sunlit gold.
Pondering these things you do embrace
that quiet, happy, contented place.
About this poem
I wrote this poem one night staying up late before I went to bed. It was about a year after my wedding and we were living in an apartment on the third floor and I could look out over the apartment complex pool and lights. I was very contemplative about the future. Now I realize that time is not linear and we can tap into the universal mind of the universe to get answers to our deepest questions.
