I have loved broken boys

I have loved broke boys
with their fire and hot air
and promises of castles in the air

I have loved broken boys
heirs to kingdoms
and pots of treasures
stowed away in the bosoms of their mothers

Flawed, menacing and witless,
I have loved all these broke blokes
pretty boys with a nose ring
tall boys with a predisposition for pain
medium ugly boys with lots a bling
petty arduous boys that will turn into thunder wielding lords
broke boys still
some with pearly whites to serenade
some with booze-stained lips to berate
most are wild, breakers of the norm
and my bank
and my back

now I medicate;
one week in bed
two doctors in
three painkillers four times a day
and meditate why o why
I have loved more broke down boys
than a tow truck has!
