Holding back

A light beyond my own
dances restlessly through the sky.
My impetuous mind, reaches to turn in out.
The overwhelming surreality, takes my breath away.
The light is delicate as primrose.
I pull away my hand.
I want to touch its velvet flare,
but not all things are meant to feel.
One last look before I turn away.
I abandon temptation
for another day

About this poem

I've struggled with being manic and losing friends and cutting ties with people just because I feel like I can and this shows how it's possible to change and hold back even if it seems inevitable.

My first contest and I am really excited. I usually write free verse and haikus based on how my life is going or how I wish it was. Honestly my friend got me into writing and now I very much enjoy it. more…
