Addict

Reagan Murphy 2000 (Hastings)

Addict - by Reagan Murphy

Sunken eyes hold back the tears, looks ike I’m on the brink,
I’ll be alright after I’ve had another drink.
Long sleeves and a mind of dread,
Dragging on a cigarette, need some pills for the head.
Shiny sensational razor blades make love to my skin,
Frosty white cocaine hits my system for the win.
An addiction is an addiction it only hurts the same,
Killing ourselves slowly because there’s no one left to blame.
They ask you why and you don’t even know,
Feeling trapped and broken, theres no where to go.
Darkness and fear is all I seem to feel,
So I call the drug guy for another deal.
I know it’s bad I’m all alone,
Reminiscing on old photos looking at my phone.
Im hanging on tight,
Trying to make this right.
Tomorrows a new day to try
And I will until I die.

About this poem
