I'm Sorry You Died

I’m sorry you died,
They paint you as this good man,
Loving father and courageous person.
They don’t know the real you.
How you would treat me behind closed doors,
The things you would call me
How you would make me feel useless.
They also didn’t know about the abuse,
Physical and emotional.
The unfaithfulness the cheating, the lies you told me.
You’re a real stand up guy.
They don’t know the battles I face to this day
Because of how you treated me back then.
The insecurities that started with you.
The fights that I had to deal with
And the battles I never won.
I’m sorry you died,
But you fooled them all.
