Slaying the Dragon

Precious Walsh 1983 (New York)

January 23

Slaying the Dragon

Everyday when I wake up and take in the morning,
My brain always screams the same sinister warning.
Do not go there today, you will surely regret.
You know what's waiting there, it's not a secret.
Sometimes the dragon will hide and play tricks.
With the illusion of sweetness oozing from her lips.
Don't fall for it now, don't do it silly girl.
Just stay home and hide from this world.
The dragon can't hold these delusions for long.
Next thing you know everything's wrong.
Why didn't you listen, you knew what would happen?
The decisions are yours, you are the captain.
Stand up strong girl, you have to be brave.
Make your move now before you're enslaved.
Dig deep down, start to imagine
You have the courage to slay that dragon.
