Love's Gift

I’m afraid of Love
And not afraid of failing in Love but Love it self
Love is a powerful and unfair force
Love affects people
Love is a monarch
Sitting on throne
Dictating and watching
Picking favorites to those in favor
To whom it believes deserves to feel favorable

I envy those who love has touched
Love’s touch must be nice
I can only imagine
I have never been touched by Love
But…

I met Love once
But it wasn’t great
It must have been a bad day
Because when I met Love
I didn’t feel it’s beauty or grace
I felt Love’s pain and poison
The side of love who nobody wants to feel nor meet

I didn’t deserve the love
Love gave me
The love I got isn’t what I asked for
The love I got was like kidnapper luring
A child with kindness and warmth
The love I got was a coin two with sides
The love I got was a Gemini
The love I got was salt that looked like sugar
The love I got was the sun that shines light so bright
But burns you alive

The Love I got was a drug
A drug that felt so good while it last
Once it worn of I felt like
I was drowning with no water
Gasping for air that felt like it wasn’t there
But it was

A drug so addictive
It made me obsessive and act erratically
I felt if I didn’t have my drug that was Love I would
Always feel misery and agony

With love I wasn’t myself
But without it I wasn’t myself
Love consumed me
I know nothing without it
And nothing before it
That is why I fear Love
Love is a Monarch
And I am is it subject
With no control

Love is it’s own force
Which does as it pleases
Gifting it's subjects the gift of sincere Love
but only if can satisfy Love itself
Shall it gift it
And gifting the subjects who don’t satisfy Love
the gift of the unknown Love, the scary love
the Love that's out of your control

About this poem

Love doesn't always work in our favor. We can accept that or learn from that. Loves gift can be cruel but beautiful it up to us to determine.
