Battleship Hood.

Douglas Blair 1951 (London)

Pride of the fleet.
Rule Britannia.
Lion in the North Atlantic.
North Sea.
Happily manned
Young sailors.
Protecting mercantile
Convoys.
Watching out for
Subs of the Hun.
Soaking wet, slippery
Hyenas of aggression.
The Bismark
Ever hear of that ship?
Monstrous long range cannon.
Took out the Hood.
Glory tipping, downing, gone.
With all onboard.
Icy waters fed well.
Commonwealth did a collective
Knee-jerk gasp.
(I found this stuff in
Mom’s scrapbook.
WW TWO.
London Ontario.
Bev Roberts.
Happened before she
Graduated as an RN.
Before Jack Blair RAF.)
