Ghost

Morrigan Jones 2006 (Kilkenny)

Ghost
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
See the sunlight streaming through
This leafy roof, made of yew
Hear the crow yelling at the sun
Under this ground I have become one
With the earth and the nature
My bones lie to rest
I sleep through time and I sleep through test
I hear the yelling of children at play
I hear the weeping of tears once kept at bay
I hear the vows of lovers no longer alone
I hear the rotting of sinew and bone
I cannot move, but neither do I want to
Taste the stale air that Death does sew
Between my coffin and the ground above
He watches over me with a parental love
Sleep; I sleep on, never to awaken.
For in that sombre home my life was taken
But I feel no sadness, I feel no pain
Death is much sweeter than the life where I was slain.

About this poem

I wrote this poem a long time ago, and honestly I really like it. It’s about a dead person, and their point of view.

Morrigan Jones

I mostly write poetry for fun or to get out some of my thoughts and feelings. A lot of my poems are more like songs, and a lot of them don’t rhyme either. more…
