Betrayal of Trust: An Elegy for Materfamilias

Oh mournful mother, who once avouched
To your progeny that fiends were not real
But little did you know, dear materfamilias
That the behemoth was none other than your paterfamilias

Your words of wisdom and guidance now ring hollow
As the truth of his monstrous nature is revealed
Our hearts ache with the knowledge of your sorrow
And the betrayal that your trust has sealed

Yet, we cannot help but mourn for you
For the love and devotion you bestowed
Upon the one who proved to be so untrue
And the pain that your heart must now hold

Rest in peace, dear materfamilias
For your legacy shall forever remain
A reminder of your strength and graciousness
And the love that will never wane.

About this poem

This elegiac verse is composed in a sophisticated and ceremonious diction, which encompasses words such as "affirmed," "offspring," "perceptive," "colossus," "lamentable," "abominable," and "heritage." The verse imparts a feeling of lamentation and treachery, as the matriarch is aghast to comprehend that her consort is a "colossus," or monstrous creature. Notwithstanding this disclosure, the verse also extols the matriarch's fortitude, elegance, and affection which will be forever cherished.
