The World's Greatest Light
Charles Albert Farned 1945 (mississippi)
A long time ago, far across the sea
A man was born to save you and me
Born in a manger, of a virgin birth
Angels sang, there was peace on earth
Later he worked in his father's shop
There were nails to drive and wood to chop
Sometimes he'd talk with the priests and such
And everyone wondered how he knew so much
He found desciples who were fishermen then
He taught them how to fish for men
He healed the sick, gave sight to the blind
He fed the hungry, turned water into wine
His name was Jesus, the world's greatest light
He was God's son, and he was always right
Where ever he walked became holy ground
He wasn't scared of the devil, he wouldn't back down
Now many people hated this holy man
They tried their tricks but never got the upper hand
No, they never would leave Jesus alone
But he'd just ask who wants to throw the first stone
Jesus calmed the sea and raging wind
He walked on water, he will again
He threw money changers out of the temple
He prayed the Lord's prayer and liked to stay simple
He taught with parables and raised the dead
He cast out demons, it was Jesus they dread
Finally his haters crucified Christ
Between two thieves while soldiers rolled dice
Jesus died nailed to the cross
He gave his life so ours aren't lost
Three days later, he arose to live again
He said he'll be back, but he didn't say when
