Still I come out looking fresh
Still I come out looking fresh
By Karabelo Makhalemele
Though last week was very bleak
My heart was a braai stand
burning me like a steak
Still I come out looking fresh!
I might've not got leadership position
or within that organisation
Still I come out looking fresh!
Yesterday I came face to face with Bantu bloke's poverty
It insisted that I borrow money from my peer who ain't even my buddy
To survive penury,like nearly everybody
I traded my pride and dignity for shame and humiliation
Still I come out looking fresh!
My mother don't work, she's not a teacher, lawyer or clerk
My father got imprinsoned, while my mother diligently pushed me down to earth
This common musing gives me blues as the aftermath
Still I come out looking fresh
Go ahead! Spread your propaganda about me
Call me a creep or a freak
A fool or a dummy
Go ahead! Devise until your wits deplete to make my bright and sunny day grim and gloomy
Still I come out looking fresh!
I fell so many times, I hit rock bottom so multiple times
I no longer ponder on "what if I fall next time?"
Because now I know
Whether I fall flat on my face in
situations cold and blue as a cold front
Or that shines blazing fire like the sun in space
Still I come out looking fresh!
