In my Grandmother's Garden

Denise E. Hinkson 1952 (Philadelphia)

                       In my Grandmother's Garden

In my Grandmother's Garden.
That's where I like to be.
Lying in the grass underneath two big beautiful green trees.
Looking up at the sky above my head.
Watching the birds flying so high.
Wondering where they are flying to now.
In my grandmother's Garden.
That's where I like to be.
underneath two big beautiful green trees.
I take a deep breath, and then I close my eyes.
I just listen to the birds singing sitting in the trees just above my head.
Then I open my eyes and look up at the sky.
Watching each cloud drifting by like white fluffy cotton in the sky.
Wishing if I could only reach up and touch each cloud that drifts by in the sky.
In my Grandmother's Garden.
That's where I like to be.
underneath two big beautiful green trees.
When the wind blows
I can feel a poignant breeze, blowing the fragrance of
each rose that bloomed in my grandmother's garden,
surrounding all around me.
In my Grandmother's Garden.
That's where I love to be...
