The World That Haunts

People:
So smart, yet so dumb.
The world:
So populated, yet so empty.
So diverse, yet so similar.

Stuck is the people,
Unable to notice life around them.
Like the eagles that fly,
And the beetles that crawl,
Addicted to phones is all.

No one can put their phone down.
When one looks around, they can not see the beautiful faces in their town.
They are no longer a flower because of their phone.
They look around to see everyone is a clone.
No one is unique,
And all have become weak.

The sun goes down and there goes the day.
Not a soul outside enjoying the sun.
It seems as though technology has won.

Yet one girl notices, a girl who wants out,
But she does not know the route.
An escape is what she wants.
It is not a want but rather a need,
An escape from the world that haunts.

She is addicted,
With a mind that is restricted.
She is lost and unsure of who she has become.
She lost her smile,
Her style,
Her happiness,
Everything that made her one.

She cries and is scared of her own image.
The bomb of time clicks and clicks.
The girl is weighed down by bricks.
She needs to escape before it's too late.

She has already lost most of herself
And clings to a small piece left.
She hates the world for its crime and theft,
For stealing the lives of all.

She plans her escape:
To run like the wolves, like Wendy when Jack was chasing her.
But instead of running from someone else, she is running from herself.

Shaking, stumbling swiftly,
She breaks her phone while running alone.
She leaves her physical world behind,
For she was controlled in the mind.

The girl was lost and craved an escape.
She got what she wanted and so wished to have.

Put down the phone and experience life.
Enjoy every second,
And fill it with spice.
