Dog Medicine
I stepped outside into the chill
white world to begin a day's work of chores Enthusiasm hit me in the form of
a cheerful pup

Suzie Q wagged her tail so fast
 back and forth, round and round
Running in circles around my tall boots
her back legs wiped out from under her
Tan eyebrows slid up in surprise
she wriggled back to standing position
I was sure I saw a blush on her face
 “Idiot” I would have told myself if
I had been the pup
 doing the tail-wagging

Wild happy movements and
begging for attention never slowed down
Perhaps Suzie doesn’t know how to moderate wagging for icy terrain.
I only wish I kept ‘friending’ that energetically even after I looked a complete fool
