Africa's SoliloQUESTIONS

Isn’t my name Africa?
Did I mention Africa?
My name should be child of destiny.
How’s that I mistaken my identity?
Oh children of my belly
 do you find wherewithal for my prosperity?
Is it not deep seated in my loins?;
For I am both your mother and father.
Are you orphaned?
Your kinsmen and rulers have sold you?
My gold, and silver, and other minerals, where are they?
I bragged of you to my siblings.
Are you not the richest and most endowed?
Then what is the news of poverty I hear?;
famine, wars, disunity, plagues and diseases too?
I am ashamed. Are you too?
Shall I stop ranting?
Because it seems the more I bemoan the less you change.
What shall I do ?
I shall take the first step, and suit must you follow.
Beat upon your breasts. No more low self?
No more mediocrity?
I hear the world put into chaos at this your resolve.
so then, you have questioned yourself enough.
Question now the world, your younger siblings.
Firstborns must take their place.
And when they do not answer you,
Find the answers for yourself.
Your true self after all is in your actions, not your questions.

About this poem

A poem that hybrids soliloquys and question - Africa's plight of mediocrity and low self esteem has been a disease that has plagued that continent and people for so long. The poem talks about the fact that Africa ought to arise and question her actions, and not look down on herself. Mama Africa should be action oriented, and not always play second fiddle to the OTHERS.
