Karen
Since the night God called you home by name,
Our lives here haven't been the same.
As the tears stream down our face,
Now we move on and try to find our place.
At night when I look up at the stars,
I close my eyes and wonder if you've now seen Mars.
To know you was to feel your love,
To laugh with you and hug you was a gift from above.
Your smile was a light in every room,
You helped so many people grow and bloom.
Our hearts were completely broken that day,
Now we remember how you showed us the way;
How we move forward and never look back,
How to stay the course and remain on track,
How to love one another just as Jesus said,
How to stay strong and always stay fed.
You will always hold a special place in our heart,
Forever together even when we are many miles apart.
I hope you are now at rest,
When we lost you, we lost the BEST
About this poem
My wife wrote this poem as she was grieving the loss of her Aunt Karen, who was like a mother to her. Karen was the kind of woman that listened to everyone's problems and offered sound advice and comfort. She was a one of a kind woman.
