A Gamer’s Life

From sunrise to midnight,
the devouring urges,
that takes over me,
to take control of my future legacy.

My fingers touching the keys,
tapping away with the speed of light,
moving me from side to side,
keeping me alive for the tenth time.

My eyes become glued to the scene,
projected on my curved screen,
mesmerizing graphics,
and colors of dreams.

Music thundering through the ears,
muffling the sounds
of shouts and screams,
calling me to save my peers.

I can smell the plastic scent,
left on my fingertips,
I can taste the victory,
waiting for me on my next mission.

Blood, sweat but no tears,
only laughter and joy,
bonding with friends,
in my early teens.

Tomorrow I will conquer the world,
I will sit on my throne,
I will be crowned emperor of the lands I freed,
by the click of a mouse,
and the pressing of keys.
