The Lost Moon
Feeling lost in cloudy skies and purple nights,
I looked over the melancholic sights.
Pondering what was it that brought,
this grieving sadness and emotional drought.
What once evoked the joys in me,
now provoked a bitterness so deep.
It kept me cloaked and changed she,
into a mere memory.
Looking up I see the moon glisten,
reflecting the light of another's disposition.
Trying to replicate the fallen sun,
its clear to see she isn't fooling anyone.
On one empty night sky,
she hides alone and silently cries.
The sun has drifted and now she's lost,
Purpose and hopes, reduced to naught.
Broken, she lay there in despair,
all caught up and unaware
of the small creeping ray of light
washing away the cold, dark night
As the ray hugged her face,
she could feel the solemn embrace.
Giving her an overdue epiphany,
while sounding like a beautiful symphony.
Over the horizon, she now saw
the sun rise again in awe.
In realization, she rose in space
For the lost moon, was nothing but a phase.
About this poem
This poem was influenced by the only constant in life, change. As change hit me and I found myself trying to keep up, it made me get lost in its tides for a while, until I finally could catch a hold of myself and regain strong ground.
