Lost

The day I lost you, I lost everything
It was my fault too
All I had to do was speak up
I never wanted it
I couldn’t speak
I felt the earth swallowing me in
Confining me to myself, again
You were all I had
Everything I ever wanted
I never knew I was so in need, until the day you stepped into my life
It was as clear as day
Amongst hundreds of people, you stood out
Shining, like a bright star
Only to find, your smile was brighter
Your voice enchanting
From that moment, I clinged on
Tight
Never wanting to let go
Then reality set in
I knew it was too good to be true
You tell me, we all have free will
I believe God will find a way
If not now, then later
I only hope for someday
I chose you then, I choose you now, but I can’t be
Not just yet
You swept me off my feet
Had my heart smiling
Brought laughter to an empty home
Filled with silence and hot air
I pushed you away
Thinking I had to explore myself
I am nothing without you
You gave me life
The day I pushed you away, I lost my life
All over again
