Flashback
Back to the summer of ninety nine
I was just another kid, and was doing fine
Free, like a broken kite in the wind
Thoughts were just questions, with never a hint. Under the sun and the open blue sky,
Fun, frolic, merry making and the days went by Never did worry of what the future holds,
But always did doubt, why the teacher did scold. Lessons were taught, to love and to learn,
No one did bother of "How do I earn?"
All that I knew of a race was to run,
At the blow of a whistle and life was all fun.
As I stood watching the children at play,
At the far away playground, so carefree and gay, Like on a reel, all the memories ran,
A flashback of years when everything began. Sunbathed and painted in colour of hues,
So vibrant, they kindle the child in you.
About this poem
Childhood is a transformative phase in every individual's life, which like everything in the past can only be revisited on a walk down the memory lane. In a fast paced life that sweeps us in time to the midst of adulthood and into eventual surety of old age, fond memories of these early formative years can offer a breath of fresh air to the aging soul
