DEATH.
DEATH
Even when the vast cold
Numbs and freezes appendages into
Withering icicles and the red life that runs stuttering
In capillaries threatening to stop
In its torrid course
And the joints groan with a brittling crackle
Like white fossils
I shall NOT relent in that resolve of life tenacious.
I see the fluttering foreboding of Death;
Black fleeting Expressions and Impressions
Of the Enemy’s zeal
But my WILL bats him down.
Did I not see him here, and there and then?
With a resolute promise
Of my Quietus?
A resolve seemingly as strong as mine?
Let Death be my Sentinel
Until convinced I can be
That He is like the kiss of a lover
My lips upon,
The brilliant sunset at twilight
The lofty height I aspire,
The verdance of Jehovah’s Earth;
Always at Her prime
Like the fat and moist soil
Upon which my seed
Is sown,
The sound and sight of songbirds
The vast and inimitable
Undulations of the Irrepressible sea,
The supple warm bosom of the Lord’s Grace
Upon my Embrace.
The smiling benediction;
A mother to her child.
Yes! Let him be my companion
Upon an errand
On my command;
Resilience against an enemy.
What death can assay the One who a companion
Makes Death?
Did I not see him here, there and then?
Broad wings darkly
Threatening Impotently
My Resolve strong.

Simply about death and her emissaries. We struggle against Death, yet, we lose.
