The Event's Eve

Now the clock ticks unevenly -
the event is around the corner.
And my heart is highly panting,
resting only on His goodness!
For we've garnered efforts tangible
and unseen, yearnings of preps so consuming.
Also in the spirit, as the day dawns
with the rooster's crow.

Beyond expectations revealed roster's
tour:
         with checklist on hand
and phone cocked to the ear, moving round
nodding, ascertaining -
        Apt, the planner winked
like every dog that's had its day!

Now the event is just in time -
A day to remember.
And my heartbeat is rapid, ticking in reminisce.
But it's shrouded trance I view
so dim, striding and mystic -
on heart-canopied paths
to a dreamlike event beyond.

About this poem

Some people are perfectionists, they would want to be 'in' everything; even though they'd contracted the job, they'll still poke into the entire details giving themselves avoidable tension. This poem gives an analogy of such a person who later collapsed on day of the event.
