The Delivery by Life

Joy on the day he was born
His parents' life newly turned
Better things ahead
Blessed child he should be
Their hope and prayer
More children they had
And together they lived
With good or bad
While glad or sad
Children growing
Parents advancing
School he attended
Skills he learned
Work he got
Love he found
Children he had
But there it was
As it had always been
The ugly spectre of life
Taunting him
Haunting him
Like a dark cloud
Or an evil shadow
Tried he did
Fought he did
Giving all he had
Until it got him
The life that brought joy
Delivered greater sorrow
To his parents
Who at his birth
Prayed for a better tomorrow
