Beware of the seven
Beware of the seven
By BT Yates
Beware of pride, for pride consumes us all
Ascending a mountain that is too tall
Yet seeking no help
For pride praises self
Virtue lacks within
Humility you must put in
The devil's playground in the form of lust
Succumbing to it makes the soul prone to rust
Chastisty we must instill
And that is enough to fulfill
Do not seek comfort in our friend called greed
As it can turn ugly at lightning speed
Instead practice charity
And this purpose will give you clarity
What is that deep in your heart?
It is nothing but a poisonous dart
Free yourself from the chains of envy and fly
Fly with your wings of kindness up high
Beware of the imposter called gluttony
Stitched together with "golden" buttony
And temperance overshadowed in the mix
But possessing the ability to fix
The wrath within you burns deep
You're prancing on thin ice on a hill too steep
Why then not choose patience?
That will eradicate the feeling of complacence
You're limited because you're a sloth
And your diligence the size of a moth
Mediocrity does not want to part ways
Its long time friend it wants to sway
