Between
I wish I had a black eye
Or a parcel of bacon in butchers paper
Or a pistol in my pants pocket
Anything, to suggest that I'd come from somewhere
Expecting to arrive
Rather my kit was for the journey
Taped together and full of parts repurposed
Arriving so often late or in the wrong place or with too much expectation
To prepare anymore for anything but the way between.
