A Government House Divided

A House divided
Is what America is
Government ruling
By partisan politics
“House divided cannot stand.”

About this poem

We read in the New Testament Gospel of Mark 3:25 the following: “And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.” Similarly, United States President Abraham Lincoln’s June 16, 1858 “House Divided Speech” before the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield, is equally a powerful confessional warning to America today, in the twenty first century, bleeding from moral and ethical corruption so pervasive that it inhabits every corner of the land, and even spreads its cancerous venom overseas in every crevice, and in every empty spaces. Our land, our people, and the entire world need healing. As it says in Isaiah 53:6: “We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.
