Praise Suffering
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
I will praise and tell of your name,
For you who are fearing the Lord;
Glorify Him as you proclaim,
Stand in awe in one accord.
For He has not despised or abhorred,
Affliction of the afflicted;
The face not hidden of the Lord,
Of those who have been convicted.
I praise the great congregation,
I will pay my vows for those who fear;
For they shall receive salvation,
Since they pay homage and revere.
The afflicted shall eat and drink,
Who are seeking to praise the Lord;
And satisfied while they think,
How their hearts have always adored.
So may your heart live forever,
Throughout the earth shall remember;
Because His love will not sever,
As you keep burning your ember.
The Kingdom belongs to the Lord,
As He rules over all nations;
As you give praise and worship toward,
For becoming new creations.
Before Him, bow down to the dust,
Because He has kept you alive;
Putting all of your faith and trust,
He bestows upon them to thrive.
Posterity shall serve the seed,
Of generations who will serve;
Catering for what they may need,
Providing a spiritual verve.
They shall come as they will declare,
His righteousness to the people;
Boldness and willingness to share,
The Word of God through the Gospel.
