Profession of Faith
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
The man declares He is weary,
And declaring that His worn out;
In a time so dark and dreary,
So much that causes him to doubt.
He is stupid to be a man,
Having not the understanding;
On how his life ever began,
And more brutish in demanding.
He neither learned of the wisdom,
Nor knowledge of the Holy One;
Comprehension of His Kingdom,
Nor everything that He has done.
Who has ascended to Heaven,
Gathering the wind in His hand;
Wrapped the water He has given,
Divided oceans from the land.
So what is the name of His Son,
Surely you have to know His name;
About everything He has done,
Because there is really no shame.
The Word of God is pure and true,
He is a shield for those who trust;
For everything that you construe,
Will guard you against any lust.
Add not anything to His Word,
You will be found as a liar;
Any blasphemy you have heard,
God will throw them in the fire.
