The Ledge

Step back from that ledge my friend, I see you looking down.
The more you look into the abyss the faster you'll lose ground.
Step back from the ledge my friend, feel that weight upon your shoulder? Thats all of those who love you, let us take away that boulder.
Step back from that ledge my friend, think of those kids of yours.
Think of what you leave behind, those seconds minutes, and hours.
Step back from that ledge my friend, think of how you'll be missed.
No more laughter, no more tears, no more being hugged and kissed.
Step back from that ledge my friend, think what you leave behind.
The guilt, the anger, the sorrow, a burden only of your mind.
Step back from that ledge my friend, our hearts full of fears.
You took the leap and now your gone leaving us in tears.
Step back from the ledge my friend, we can't believe you're gone.
Never able to let you know that forever is far too long.
Step back from the ledge my friend, you had an army, your dragons, we would have slain.
To have you here for one more day, to take away your pain.

Tangie Ovens

I do not think of myself as a poet, my passion is simply writing whatever comes in the moment. Always close to my heart and written with love. Passions are my family, animals, people, and living life experiencing everything life has to offer, good and bad. Learn from everything....never stop learning! But most of all....no regrets. more…
