Tea Doesn't Last Forever

This teacup had been empty for so long that it started collecting dust.
After being found in the back of the cabinet, it was washed to look like new.
Now the teacup was ready to love, rather than lust.
So with that in mind, the ingredients for our love were sprinkled into the tea and left to brew.

Our tea was warm and sparkled as if it was champagne.
At last, that teacup has gained what it had dreamt for so long.
But when we took our first sip, you poured the rest down the drain.
That day I learned that tea isn't made to last forever, and anything can go wrong.

You said it was bitter and never meant to be sweet.
What was left of our love, I held in my tiny teacup.
You told me I had to let go, so I watched as it shattered at my feet.
Now I alone, was forced to clean it up.

Our mixture of love was made by using only love, water, and tea leaves.
Those three ingredients created memories that I will forever grieve.
