It's Time to let you go my Dear

Kristen DePatsy 1984 (Massachusetts)

It is time to let you go my dear
But I can’t walk away for fear
That it would be the biggest mistake
That I have ever made

I hear your voice so clearly still
I see your ghost every place I go
Surrounded by memories of what used to be
Will things ever go back to how they were?

Every day that I awake it’s clear
That I need you by my side my dear
I need to hug you one last time
Before you disappear for good
There was no closure and now I’m scared
That each day will be this painful until the air is cleared

We used to be the best of friends
Now you can’t even call me for fear
That I will ruin your life my dear

How could you just walk away?
Without saying one final goodbye
I had no closure now I am walking around
With my head lost in the clouds.

It is time to let you go my dear
But I can’t walk away for fear
That I will miss you every single moment
And miss out on everything for years.

Can’t you find it in your heart
To love me the way that I love you
Bonds cannot simply be broken on a whim
A decision that wasn’t very clear
Will end up ruining everything we had
Does that seem fair to you my dear?

The day you came into this world
Was the happiest day I’ve ever lived
I loved you every day my dear
From the day you were born
To the day you left home

It’s time to let you go my dear
But I can’t walk away for fear
That if something doesn’t change
We will lose something that cannot be replaced

Do I stay or do I go?
If I make the wrong choice
There forever will be
A divide between the two of us
That everyone can feel and see
