Battle Born
Amelia D. Loudermilk 1995 (Greenbrier)
-I wake up to another day, another dreadfull battle, the same battle as yesterday and everyday before, a battle no one as beautiful as I am should have to indoor, but here I head out the door to return to the battleground, to do what I do best and continue my battle within myself, no one has ever seen the pain I carry within me, my demons changed who I once was, before this began you wouldn't recognize me now and you may not see it now but after you read this maybe you can see this beautifully broken girl was forced this way, the truth is, my demons changed everything and after reading this maybe you'll see exactly why I changed, and as for my demons?.....well...
Why won't they just go away?
Just leave me off in the distance and let me finally experience what inner peace with myself actually feels like for once, they start to run away from me, but yet, I chase them down,
only to get beaten by them once again,
My mistakes, my regrets, and my fears are the strongest of my demons,
Im disappointed in myself
for letting myself fall once again,
You'd think they get tired of hurting my self esteem, my confidence,
My demons won't leave me and let me begin a better life, I’m so addicted to the
misery, the bruises and pain which they have brought unto me, but without them I wouldn't be
So, I no longer want them to leave,
now I’m addicted to the pain
And I can’t imagine myself without
the demons which I’ve carried
on my shoulders all the time
So I’m fighting this battle
to stop them from leaving me
I want to get stabbed and cut
once again,
I’m in the middle of
an endless battle
with my own demons,
But not to only win, the only thing is I stand tall each and every time I fall, but somehow get defeated time and time again. This is a battle I've never won before but it's a battle I'm willing to fight for until I can finally declare victory against my demons and the things that I let define me. I'm a soldier and that's what I'll always be, I'm proud to say that these daily battles is what maked the woman I grown to be today.
