Spaced Out
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
How far out in space,
Are we on planet Earth spaced out?
'Why ask me?'
You seem to know,
More about what's crazy.
Weird and freaked out.
Yet...
Disbelieve,
In this massive, boundless...
No ending of it Universe.
That has no up, down, left or right of it.
Is inhabited,
By self righteous and self anointed...
Mind limited to an absence of common sense,
Creatures.
Fighting over,
Who is best qualified to destroy themselves!
'Well...
You must admit,
Ignorance that stupid...
Has to be one of a kind.
And rare to find,
In the vastness of such massiveness...
To regard as unique.
Where else in the Cosmos,
Do you suspect...
Other life forms can compare,
To our crazy, weird and freaked out way...
We go about expressing our appreciation.
For a blessing we take for granted?
Come on!
We have got to be special and chosen,
To mess over each other...
In ways we do it like no other species can!'
So sick is that mindset!
'I know.
And proud we should be about it too!
We have not been challenged...
By competitors believing themselves,
Better than we are at it.'
Proud?
'Yeah,
That's right...proud!
And I bet,
If there were other civilizations...
Claimed to be,
Somewhere else spaced out.
And alleged to be seen...
Snooping around then speeding away,
As fast as they possibly can.
Can not believe how advanced we are.
It has to be,
For them such a mind blowing experience.
And jealous and envious about it too!'
Jealous AND envious?
'Wouldn't you be?
Look around.
So much to receive and freely destroy.
With a taking for granted the abundance of it.
We may not live to see it,
But I am willing to bet...
One day our way of life will be,
The rage to crave throughout this Universe.
And...
Beyond!'
